1. Nixy Paddle Board Navigation Lights

nixy navigation lights

The Nixy SUP lights are an amazing accessory for any paddler who plans on being on the water after dark. They are easy to use and bright, ensuring that you are visible to other water users.

Design and Use

The package includes three bright lights: green, red, and white. They are super easy to attach to your SUP and are great for other vessels too including kayaks and canoes.

The lights have four modes–fast flashing, slow flashing, full brightness, and half brightness. You can switch from one mode to another with just one touch.

Battery

The Nixy paddle board navigation lights feature an in-built 650 mAh rechargeable battery.

Package

You will get three lights, three USB cables, and three silicone mounting straps.

What I Like
  • Rechargeable battery: The Nixy navigation lights come with a rechargeable battery, so you don’t need to keep buying batteries–which can be expensive over time.
  • Waterproof (not just water-resistant): I love that the lights are waterproof because with stand up paddle boarding they will of coursey get wet.
  • Super easy to attach: The process of attaching the Nixy lights to a stand up paddle board is pretty straightforward.
What I Don’t Like
  • Full brightness drains the battery: The battery longevity isn’t the best – you can’t use the full brightness mode for long because the battery will run out. But if used sensibly you should have enough juice to last for a session.

2. Nocqua Spectrum Color Changing Lights

nocqua spectrum led lights

You can’t go wrong with the Nocqua Spectrum color changing lights. It is very popular in the SUP community—and for a good reason.

Design and Use

The light system includes adjustable straps for attaching to the board. The Nocqua has seven different colors and four sequence modes.

It is made in such a way that it doesn’t affect the movement of your board in the water.

The Nocqua can be used on all kinds of SUPs, canoes and kayaks—thanks to the adjustable straps.

Battery

The light system comes with one battery. It takes about 4 hours for it to be fully charged. You’ll get around three hours of use from a full charge. This may not be enough for paddlers who go on long adventures; especially because you can’t charge the light while it is in use.

Package

The Nocqua light system package is all-inclusive. It comes with two 600-lumen light bars, durable travel case, Y connector, switch, battery, two extension straps and one adjustable harness.

What I Like
  • Rechargeable battery: The Nocqua underwater lights have a rechargeable battery that takes about four hours to charge, so you won’t have to keep buying batteries.
  • Everything you need in the package: All the items you need to charge the light system and attach it to your paddle board are included in the package.
  • They work so well: I love how bright the Nocqua paddle board lights are and differ in colors. Also your paddle board still moves smoothly with them attached.
What I Don’t Like
  • Short battery life: The batteries only last about three hours which is not ideal for long night trips; it might be a good idea to supplement with backup lights – or invest in a pair and keep them both charged!

5. Torch SUP Paddle Lights

A SUP light doesn’t have to be mounted on your paddle board. This Torch paddle is another fun paddle board accessory and illuminates your surroundings perfectly.

Design and Use

The blade is chiseled for strength and channeled for the LED’s protection. The lights are only on one side so you can effectively light up your way. This also means that you won’t have to blind any kayakers or paddlers behind you.

The two-piece shaft is built using fiberglass.

Battery

The Torch SUP Paddle uses 8 AAA batteries. You will get about 40 hours of night paddling. This is more than enough.

Package

Besides the torch paddle, nothing is exciting about the package.

What I Like

  • Lightweight: The paddle feels lighter and is more efficient than an aluminum paddle. You can paddle longer distances without getting too tired.
  • Efficient battery use: You can get up to 40 hours out of the AAA batteries that this torch paddle runs on. That’s amazing – because you can go on several night tours without having to buy new batteries.
